The University of Miami School of Architecture, U-SoA, is recognized for educating students for success in a wide range of career paths that make up our built environment.

Faculty prepare students to address the complex needs of an increasingly diverse society. The annual Architecture Career Forum gives employers the opportunity to recruit our talented students, upcoming graduates, and alumni for internships or full-time positions.  

Employers will display and discuss work, review portfolios and hold interviews.

Students and Employers may register online via Handshake.

SHIPPING INFORMATION FOR EMPLOYERS: Please find the shipping information to ship your promotional items to the Toppel Career Center for the Career Forum in-person event.

In an effort to better track packages, please take a picture of all packages for the Forum, prior to mailing them out, and email them to careerexpo@miami.edu. We recommend using Federal Express or UPS when shipping materials. Packages must have your company and the career fair name (Architecture Career Forum) clearly marked on the outside.

  • Disclaimer for Packages: The Toppel Career Center is not responsible for any lost, missing, or stolen packages being sent to and/or mailed out of the career center. Pictures will be taken of all packages received prior to and after the Forum. Any package not labeled properly with the company and career fair name will not be taken to the venue.
  • Please ship properly labeled employer items to the following address:

CAREER FORUM BOOKLET SUBMISSIONS: Students are required to create their 2-page pdf (continuing students) or 4-page pdf (graduating students) using an InDesign template that will be provided via email.  It will be sent by Nora Gay-Betton from the Academic Services Department.  Files must be submitted by November 30, 2024.

ADDING TEXT

  • Open the template folder and install fonts located in the fonts folder.
  • Open InDesign and have your files ready to place.
  • Go up to Window > Workspace > Essentials Classic.
  • Choose the Text tool on the left hand tool bar and click on the text boxes on page 1 of the template, type in your text or paste it from another document.
  • Formatting tools are on the menu bar up top.

ADDING AN IMAGE

  • Open InDesign and have your files ready to place.
  • Go up to Window > Workspace > Essentials Classic.
  • Method 1: Choose the Selection tool (black arrow) on the left-hand tool bar and select the headshot frame or an image frame, then drag and drop your image in. 
  • Method 2: Choose the Selection tool and select the headshot or image frame, then go to File > Place and locate the image, press Open.
  • To format, right click > Fitting > choose either ‘Fit Content to Frame’ or ‘Fit Content Proportionally’ (to undo go up top to Edit > Undo or Command+Z)
  • You can adjust the size of your frame and/or create multiple frames within the space, by selecting the 'Selection' tool and hovering over any of the corners of the frame and resizing, you can also copy and paste multiple frames within the space or create new ones by choosing the 'Frame' tool on the left-hand toolbar.

TO SAVE/EXPORT FINAL FILE

  • Go to File > Export > PDF Print > High Quality > All Pages > Spreads > Save
    PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CHOOSE SPREADS, NOT SINGLE PAGES.
