During their studies at U-SoA, our students are able to encounter firsthand access to real-world, professional exposure and experience right here on campus. In addition to numerous career-focused opportunities being directly built into their particular program, our future architects also have research lab positions and internships availble for their gain. Many of these opportunities can help students gain critical NCARB Architectural Experience Program (AXP) hours that are required for architectural licensure.
This synergistic research collaboration leverages three partners: the enthusiasm and up to date skills of the student, the real-world design agenda and knowledge of the host office, and the academic aptitude and expertise of the faculty. Qualified students will spend 40 hrs a week with the host office. 50% of those hours will be spent as an intern, conducting professional work directed by the host office, and 50% of the hours will be spent perusing academic research.
A sponsored studio allows for a group of senior and graduate students to dedicate an entire semester (Fall or Spring) to working alongside our faculty on a project your firm would like to explore. The topics can range and include multiple areas of focus from urban design to historic preservation. We commit to finding the right faculty and students to work alongside your team.
